U.S. Government Partially Shutdown Due to Lack of Funding
The U.S. government has announced a partial shutdown until the funding proposals are approved, as reported by The Herald News.
"The U.S. government partially shut down on Saturday when the funding deadline expired at midnight, and Congress was unable to approve the 2026 budget," the article states.
The newspaper reports that the U.S. government may soon resume operations, as the House of Representatives is expected to approve funding early next week, which had previously received support from the Senate.
It was noted that negotiations over funding were disrupted due to the shooting of two protesters by federal immigration agents in Minneapolis.
The day before, the U.S. Senate overwhelmingly passed a bill to fund key parts of the federal government and sent the document to the House of Representatives. The bill received support from 71 senators, surpassing the required 60 votes, while 29 voted against it.
