Aliyev and Pezeshkian Discuss Tense Situation in the Region
The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, held a telephone conversation with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian.
According to the Azerbaijani president's press service, it was reaffirmed during the conversation that relations between Azerbaijan and Iran are based on the principles of friendship, brotherhood, and mutual assistance, while highlighting the historical, ethnic, and religious ties between the two peoples.
During the phone call, satisfaction was expressed regarding the visits of the Iranian president to Azerbaijan, meetings between the heads of state, and their effective negotiations, which have significantly contributed to the development of bilateral relations.
It was emphasized that the construction works of the road bridge connecting the cities of Aghband and Kalaleh over the Araz River are progressing according to the schedule.
The state leader, expressing concern about the situation in the region, announced Azerbaijan’s readiness to contribute to reducing tensions and emphasized that our country supports resolving such issues through negotiations and mutual understanding.
For his part, President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev.
During the phone conversation, views were exchanged on various aspects of the friendly and brotherly relations between our countries, as well as future joint steps, and an agreement was reached to continue communications.
