Attempt to Cross into Another Country Through Armenian Territory from Iran; Arrests Made
On January 20, a significant incident occurred in the Meghri border area. According to ArmLur.am, more than ten individuals attempted to illegally enter Armenia from the Islamic Republic of Iran. Around 00:05, they tried to breach the Armenian-Iranian state border by climbing over a barbed wire fence, without the necessary documents and proper permission.
As a result, they were apprehended by the National Security Service and are currently being held in a detention facility.
Auroranews contacted Kim Avdalian, a spokesperson for the Investigative Committee, to confirm the information. He stated in the conversation, "They attempted to cross into another country through Armenian territory. There is a criminal case initiated regarding the attempt to illegally cross the state border, and seven individuals have been arrested."
