Minister of Internal Affairs Discusses Homicides in 2025
During the discussion on the annual report of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for 2025, Minister Arpine Sargsyan announced that 768 kg of various drugs were seized throughout the year, surpassing the previous year's figures by 80 percent.
Additionally, 2.5 tons of illegally caught fish were confiscated, and four groups engaged in large-scale investment fraud were identified.
According to the minister, the number of seized, discovered, and voluntarily surrendered firearms increased by 42.2 percent compared to last year. Material damages amounting to 25 billion drams were caused to the state and communities.
Requests for the accompaniment of arrested and detained individuals were completed at a rate of about 98 percent. The Criminal Police did not record any unsolved homicide cases in 2025, which Arpine Sargsyan emphasized in the context of crime prevention.
The number of crimes detected by the Patrol Service in 2024 was 11,948, while in 2025, this number rose to 14,969. The instances of driver's license revocation by the police totaled 5,435, whereas the average annual figure from the Road Police over the past three years was 764.
It was also noted that since the establishment of the Patrol Service, there has been a trend of decreasing fatalities from road traffic accidents. In 2024, the number of casualties decreased by 45 compared to 2023, and in 2025, it fell by another 50.
Efforts regarding administrative offenses have also demonstrated high effectiveness, with the Patrol Service issuing approximately 1 million citations in 2025, compared to an average annual figure of around 300,000 from the Road Police over the past three years.
