Trump Wants to Impose His Will on Others: Iranian Parliament Speaker
The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, has stated that Tehran is ready to engage in dialogue with the United States only if there are "real negotiations" for a new agreement.
"If there are real negotiations within the framework of international rules to reach an agreement, then yes," he said in an interview with CNN, responding to a question about whether Iran is prepared to negotiate with the US.
However, Qalibaf believes that US President Donald Trump simply wants to impose his will on others. Earlier, Trump had written on the social media platform Truth Social that the American "navy" is moving swiftly towards Iran and is prepared to carry out its missions. He also stated that any potential future attack by the US against Iran would be more devastating than that of June 2025, calling for measures to prevent such a scenario.
Protests erupted in Iran in late December 2025 due to the devaluation of the national currency. These protests later turned into unrest and government opposition demonstrations, peaking with calls from the son of Iran's overthrown Shah, Reza Pahlavi.
Trump has repeatedly expressed his support for the protesters in Iran and discussed any possible actions against the Islamic Republic, including airstrikes. Tehran, in turn, has maintained that the American leader's statements threaten Iran's sovereignty.
