EU Concerned About Dependency on US Liquefied Natural Gas: Bloomberg
Concerns are rising in the EU regarding dependency on US liquefied natural gas, as reported by Bloomberg, referring to EU Energy Commissioner Dan Jørgensen.
“I certainly hear this in my conversations with Europe’s energy ministers and heads of state. The concerns are growing,” the publication quoted him saying.
The report emphasized that recent developments in relationships with the White House have become a “worrying signal” for the alliance, as half of the supplies are now dependent on Washington.
Jørgensen noted that the union is exploring increases in supplies from other countries, including Canada, Qatar, and North African nations.
A previous statement published by the EU Council indicated that it has definitively confirmed the ban on imports of Russian liquefied natural gas starting from January 1, 2027, and the ban on imports of Russian pipeline gas from September 30, 2027.
Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that the ban on supplies of liquefied natural gas and pipeline gas from Russia, which has been confirmed by the EU Council, denies freedom in 2027.
