Internet Shutdown Cost Iran Millions of Dollars
Following the protests that started on January 8 in Iran, internet services across the country have been shut down. Representatives from the IT sector estimate that this decision is causing direct economic losses of 2 to 3 trillion tomans per day, which is approximately equivalent to 20.6 million dollars.
This was announced by Ali Hakimjavadi, the president of the Iranian Computer Engineers and IT Professionals Association. Hakimjavadi stated that digital businesses and companies providing information services have been the most affected. A significant portion of their income is directly dependent on stable access to the global internet.
Under these restrictions, many companies have experienced a sharp decline, and some have been forced to shut down entirely.
