Federal Agents Shoot and Kill Another Man in Minneapolis as Protests Resume with Renewed Force
Seventeen days after the death of Renae Gudi, which occurred at the hands of an immigration and customs enforcement officer, federal agents shot and killed another man in Minneapolis. Protests in the city have resumed with renewed vigor.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara told CNN that the man shot by federal agents has died. Local authorities and media are still unsure whether the shooter was an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer, but both Minnesota's governor and state senator have again called on President Trump to immediately withdraw the thousands of ICE agents sent to Minnesota as part of his campaign against illegal immigration.
The Department of Homeland Security has stated that the man was armed with a firearm containing two magazines and released a photo of the weapon. As reported by CNN, the department has yet to clarify whether the man threatened its agents with the firearm or if he possessed a state-mandated concealed carry permit.
“I just spoke with the White House this morning after yet another horrific shooting by federal agents. Minnesota is tired. This is disgusting. The President needs to stop this operation. Remove these thousands of aggressive and untrained agents from Minnesota. Now,” the governor wrote on social media.
A crowd of protesters gathered at the scene of the shooting in south Minneapolis. CNN reported that police dispersed them, including using tear gas.
