Dispute Over Greenland Delays $800 Billion Aid Program for Ukraine: FT

Conflicts between EU countries and U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the issue of Greenland have disrupted plans to sign an economic support agreement for Ukraine. The Financial Times, citing six officials, reports that the postponement has also been influenced by Trump's proposed ‘Council for Peace in Gaza’ initiative.

According to sources from the publication, a 'prosperity program' aimed at Ukraine's post-war recovery was scheduled to be signed during the World Economic Forum in Davos, but that step has been delayed. The program was set to provide financial assistance to Kyiv of up to $800 billion.

The initiative was anticipated to be agreed upon as a basis for collective economic support among Ukraine, EU member states, and the U.S. However, political disagreements within the EU have impeded progress on the process. One FT source indicated that European countries cannot overlook U.S. actions regarding Greenland while simultaneously cooperating with Washington on achieving peace in Ukraine.

Another source noted that European states currently have little interest in publicly demonstrating any progress toward an agreement with Donald Trump.
