Macron: A Record High in Global Conflicts
French President Emmanuel Macron has stated that international relations are gradually moving away from a system of common rules, with armed conflicts becoming a norm. He noted that over 60 wars are recorded worldwide in 2024, which is an absolute record.
Macron mentioned that imperialistic aspirations are re-emerging, and cooperation in international relations is giving way to competition. According to him, a situation is being created where the law of the strong prevails over legal rights.
The French president emphasized that France and Europe are committed to the principles of territorial sovereignty and independence. He declared that this is not an outdated approach, but rather a means to remember the lessons of World War II and to prevent their recurrence.
Macron also criticized the trade agreements proposed by the United States, stating that they are aimed at weakening and subordinating Europe. In his view, tariffs are utilized as a pressure tool against sovereignty, which is unacceptable. He added that Europe must defend itself and that it has the necessary mechanisms for this, pointing out that European countries often fail to protect their markets and companies when other countries do not ensure fair competition.
