EU Responds to Statements Regarding Greenland

The European Union will continue to uphold its stance on the issue of Greenland. This was stated by the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaya Kallas, during a speech at a European Parliament session.

According to Kallas, no state has the right to claim another country's territory through force or coercion. She emphasized that this principle applies to both Ukraine and Greenland, highlighting the importance of adhering to international law.

The head of EU diplomacy also addressed U.S. President Donald Trump's statements threatening to impose tariffs on the eight countries that opposed his approach to the issue of Greenland. Kallas assessed that such actions could adversely affect the economic stability and mutual relations of both the European Union and the United States.

She informed that the European Union plans to double its funding for Greenland as part of its new long-term budget, which will come into effect in 2028.
