Ukraine Will Only Be Needed by Us, Says Lukashenko
Only after the conflict ends will Belarus and Russia be able to help Ukraine, and the West will no longer need it. This was stated by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who also emphasized that Kyiv should focus on stopping human losses rather than territorial issues.
Lukashenko noted that the possibility of ending the conflict in Ukraine is now closer than ever. "This opportunity is greater than ever, regardless of how much Ukrainians resist today; we still have to work for peace in this country," said the Belarusian leader during a meeting with Alexander Sokolov, the governor of Russia's Kirov region.
Lukashenko stressed that Ukrainians must understand that this is not just a territorial issue. "It is understandable; it is painful for any country," he said, adding that people will decide where to live. "Territory is not a determining factor. Ukraine must come out of this, rather than destroy thousands of people every day," highlighted Lukashenko, mentioning that millions of people who have fled Ukraine may not return even in peaceful times.
According to the Belarusian president, he always reminds Kyiv that after the special operation ends, none of its current partners will provide assistance to the country. "In the post-war period, only we will help them," emphasized Lukashenko. He added that if the United States changes its priorities, it might simply forget about Ukraine, "turning its back on Iran, Yemen, or Taiwan." He concluded, "This Ukraine will be needed by no one but us. Therefore, we must look forward."
