The Episcopal Assembly to Be Held in Austria: Details
By the invitation of His Holiness Karekin II, the Episcopal Assembly will take place in the city of St. Pölten, Austria, from February 16 to 19. This was reported to NEWS.am by the director of the Information System of the Mother See, Priest Esai Khachaturyan.
He emphasized that any assembly body of the Armenian Apostolic Church, except for the National-Church Assembly, can hold its sessions anywhere. According to him, there have been precedents for such gatherings during both the Episcopal Assembly and the Supreme Spiritual Council meetings.
“Thus, at the invitation of His Holiness Karekin II, the Episcopal Assembly will be held in St. Pölten, Austria, from February 16 to 19,” noted Priest Esai Khachaturyan.
It should be recalled that it was previously reported that the Episcopal Assembly would not be held at the Mother See but rather outside of Armenia. This decision was made considering the anti-church campaign of the authorities and its consequences.
