US Department of Justice Launches Investigation into Minnesota Governor and Mayor

The US Department of Justice has launched an investigation into Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (both Democrats) on suspicion of conspiracy to obstruct the work of federal immigration agents, reports BBC and CBS.
Simultaneously, it has been reported that Federal District Judge Katherine Menendez has prohibited the thousands of immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents sent to Minnesota from arresting peaceful protesters and using pepper spray against them.
Protests in the state escalated after an ICE agent shot and killed 37-year-old poet Renee Nicole Goudin in Minneapolis last week.
