Trump Offers Invitation to Erdogan
U.S. President Donald Trump has sent a letter to his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan inviting him to join the Gaza Peace Council, according to a statement from the Turkish leader's office.
“On January 16, 2026, U.S. President Donald Trump, as the founding president of the Peace Council, sent a letter to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan inviting him to become one of the founding members of the Peace Council,” stated Burhanettin Durak, the head of the Turkish president's communications office.
Trump had previously announced the establishment of the Gaza Peace Council and promised to reveal its members soon. The council includes U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, and the U.S. leader’s son-in-law, investor Jared Kushner, as well as former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, President of the World Bank Azhar Bangah, and Deputy National Security Advisor Robert Gabriel, as announced by the White House on Saturday.
