Denmark Unable to Control and Protect Greenland, Says White House

Senior advisor to U.S. President Donald Trump, Stephen Miller, has questioned Copenhagen's entitlement to govern Greenland. He made this statement during a broadcast on FOX News.

Miller described Denmark as a small country with a modest economy and armed forces, which is physically incapable of controlling and protecting Greenland, an area that is a quarter the size of continental America. “According to every notion of territorial control that has arisen over the last 500 years, in order to control a territory, you have to be able to defend it, develop it, and populate it. Denmark has failed on all these fronts,” said Miller.

“Greenland is crucial for America’s national security. Polar competition will be a new arena of international competition,” he stated, justifying Washington's intentions to secure Greenland.
