Extensive Military Check Begins in Belarus

Following the directive of President Alexander Lukashenko, a large-scale, multi-level unexpected inspection of the armed forces has begun in Belarus. This was announced by the Secretary of the Security Council, Alexander Volfovich, according to BelTA.

According to Volfovich, the concept of the inspection was personally approved by Lukashenko, who will also participate in it. The operations are being conducted based on the experience gained from Russia's special military operation in Ukraine and are aimed, in particular, at verifying the security of military units and measures to combat modern weaponry, including unmanned aerial vehicles.

The first target of the inspection was one of the largest military technical support units, which houses armored weapons and equipment. “A group unexpectedly arrived and ordered the commander of the unit,” Volfovich noted. During the meeting, the state of the inventory was discussed, and an inspection was planned to address deficiencies identified by the working group of the Security Council and the State Control Committee in November 2025.

The Secretary emphasized that the inspection will consist of several phases and will include various aspects of combat readiness of the troops. The exact timing and list of the units to be checked will be determined by the president.

On December 19, 2025, the leader of Belarus announced that the Russian 'Oreshnik' missile system had entered combat duty within the republic. On December 22, Lukashenko stated that no more than 10 'Oreshnik' systems would be stationed in Belarus.
