Garegin the Second Underestimates Our Spiritual Strength: Anna Hakobyan
We, the citizens of the Republic of Armenia, stood firm in 2018 for our freedom and civil rights, not allowing unworthy individuals to demean our secular 'self', wrote Anna Hakobyan, the wife of Nikol Pashinyan.
“Today, as the people who accepted Christianity as a state religion first, we stand with the same determination for our spiritual 'self' and the Armenian Apostolic Church, not allowing unworthy individuals to humiliate our spiritual authority, our faith, and lay our souls at the feet of foreigners, thus weakening our identity and our state.
The title of the Catholicos of All Armenians, Garegin the Second, has been lost irretrievably at some crossroads along the path of warfare against the Republic of Armenia, underestimating our spiritual strength and the power of faith, which, indeed, has been distorted, perhaps even deformed, under his leadership for years, sometimes suppressed. But we must not forget that the soul and blood of the Illuminator, Narekatsi, and Komitas flow in our veins and spiritual pathways.
P.S. The Holy and Everlasting Liturgy performed in the Armenian Apostolic Churches is magnificent, soothing, and healing from worries, anxieties, problems, and fears. I regret that at this stage, I am unable to attend church every Sunday, thus 1. not actively fulfilling my civic and spiritual duty in the struggle to return to my church and my state, 2. missing out on the joy of enjoying the magnificent Liturgy.
