Trump: We Must Win the 2026 Elections, or Else I Will Face Impeachment

U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that Republicans must win the 2026 midterm elections; otherwise, Democrats will find a pretext to start his impeachment.

“You have to win the midterm elections, because if we don’t win, then they will simply... I mean, they will find a pretext to declare my impeachment,” Trump told Republican lawmakers during a meeting in Washington.

“I will be subjected to impeachment,” he continued.

Trump's supporters hold a narrow majority in the House of Representatives. He urged Republicans to put aside internal disagreements and persuade discontented American voters of the necessity to push his policies forward.

“They say that if you win the presidential election, you lose in the midterms. I wish you would explain to me what the hell is going on in the public’s mind,” he said.
