Electric Vehicles Import Tax Process Secured at 0%: What is the Quota Size?
The government has approved a decision on the tariff exemption for motor vehicles powered by electric engines being imported into Armenia during the year 2026. According to the justification, Armenia has been allocated an import tariff quota for electric motor vehicles amounting to 15,000 units for 2026, within which a 0% import duty is proposed.
Thus, it is proposed to facilitate the import of 15,000 units of electric motor vehicles within the quota allocated to Armenia for 2026 while applying a 0% duty. Out of this number, no more than 12,000 units will be permitted for individuals, as well as for individual entrepreneurs and legal entities that do not have a direct dealership-distributor agreement with the vehicle manufacturer, and no more than 3,000 units will be permitted under a direct dealership-distributor agreement with the manufacturer, provided that there are documents confirming the obligations for factory warranty service provided by the manufacturer, documents confirming the obligation to provide the manufacturer's software, and documents proving the existence of a closed technical service station (appropriate property rights certificates or lease agreements, photographs).
