Changes Related to the 'Defender of the Fatherland' Program
Today, the government approved the draft law on amendments and supplements to the law on 'Military Service and the Status of Military Personnel'. The draft law proposes to consider soldiers serving under the 'Defender of the Fatherland' program as certified based on the results of the exams conducted at the end of the training phase, provided that the soldier has been appointed to a military position corresponding to their military specialty.
Soldiers who have graduated from RA military educational institutions and have been appointed to relevant officer positions will also be considered certified based on the results of the final exams of the military educational institution. In these last two cases, the additional payment will be calculated from the date of appointment to the position.
For soldiers who sign a consecutive contract for 2 or 5 years after completing the initial five-year contract under the 'Defender of the Fatherland' program, the law also foresees the possibility of receiving an honorarium after the contract term expires (1.5 million AMD for a 2-year contract and 5 million AMD for a 5-year contract).
The cases of mandatory certification for contract servicemen will also be amended.
