Aliyev Confirms Agreement: Azerbaijan and Turkey Commit to Mutual Assistance in Case of Aggression
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has signed a law approving the "Agreement on the Mutual Strengthening of Military Security between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey," Azerbaijani media reports.
According to the agreement, the signing parties are obligated to provide mutual assistance in the event of armed aggression against either party, in accordance with the right to individual and collective self-defense as recognized by Article 51 of the UN Charter.
“The parties will provide each other with military assistance at the request of either party and in accordance with procedures established by their national legislation. In peacetime, the parties regularly conduct joint exercises and troop movements, as mentioned above,” Azerbaijani media reports.
