Father Vrtanes Khanam Baghakyan Discharged from Hospital

Father Vrtanes Khanam Baghakyan, the spiritual leader of St. John the Baptist Church in Byurakan, has been discharged from the hospital. In recent days, he underwent two surgeries and had five stents placed in his heart – first two, followed by three more.

It is worth noting that on December 18, bishops demanding the resignation of the Catholicos visited the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin to deliver a letter. At the same time, a joint prayer was scheduled at the Mother See, attended by members of the faithful to show support for Karekin II. It was during this time that Father Vrtanes Khanam Baghakyan's health deteriorated. Paramedics provided first aid at the scene before transporting him to the hospital, where it was determined he had suffered a myocardial infarction.
