The ongoing war in Ukraine could conclude in 2026 under conditions that would be extremely unfavorable for Ukraine. This is reported by the Politico publication, which presents its analytical forecast.

According to the publication, one of the main reasons for such a scenario is that the European Union has failed to reach an agreement on the use of approximately €210 billion worth of frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine.

Politico notes that the collapse of the so-called 'reparations loan' proposal, which aimed to involve frozen Russian assets, deprives Ukraine of guaranteed funding for the next two years.

The publication assesses that financial uncertainty and the absence of a unified European stance could seriously impact Ukraine's negotiating capabilities and enhance its vulnerability within the framework of a potential peace agreement.
