The End of the Russian-Ukrainian War is Still Far Off, Says Romanian President

The end of the war between Russia and Ukraine is still far off, even amid peace initiatives being undertaken by the U.S. White House. This was stated by Romanian President Klaus Iohannis in an interview with Politico.

According to him, there are more reasons to be pessimistic than optimistic in the short term. The Romanian president noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin does not seem to be currently interested in peace.

“It appears that Putin believes that a peace reached in two or three months will be more advantageous for him than now. That’s why they will continue to fight, as they have some progress on the battlefield,” emphasized Iohannis.

He also pointed out that any peace agreement which rewards the aggressor in some way is dangerous for the future of European and global security.
