In Response to Zelensky's Threats, China Calls on Ukraine to Correct Its Mistakes
Today, in response to Vladimir Zelensky's threats of imposing new sanctions against Chinese citizens and companies for allegedly aiding Russia in the conflict, the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Lin Jian, called on Kyiv to correct its mistakes, noting that Beijing intends to protect the interests of its businesses and citizens.
“China is consistently opposed to illegal unilateral sanctions that violate international law and are not endorsed by the UN Security Council,” Lin Jian stated during a press briefing, commenting on Zelensky's remarks regarding Ukraine's intention to impose a new package of sanctions against individuals and companies, including Chinese ones, allegedly aiding Russia.
He added that Beijing “calls on the Ukrainian side to immediately correct its mistakes.”
“China will firmly defend the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese businesses and citizens,” the diplomat emphasized.
