Germany Calls on EU to Negotiate with Putin

In the Bundestag, Alexander Hofmann, the leader of the Christian Social Union parliamentary group, urged the EU to engage in negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

“Europe must see itself as a player in this arena. We need to present European interests, and that can and should be done through negotiations with Putin,” the publication states.

He added that Europe should speak with one voice.

On December 19, during his annual press conference addressing questions about the prospects of relations between Russia and European countries, President Putin stated that Western politicians continue to escalate tensions by discussing preparations for war. Putin also emphasized that the ball regarding the Ukrainian resolution is in the court of Russia’s opponents, primarily the Kyiv regime and its sponsors.
