France Plans to Build New Aircraft Carrier: Macron
France plans to build a new aircraft carrier. President Emmanuel Macron stated that France must be "strong enough to make others fear it," as the country seeks to position itself as a maritime military power.
The new aircraft carrier will replace the "Charles de Gaulle" ship, which is set to be decommissioned by 2038. According to French media reports, the cost of the new generation aircraft carrier project is approximately 10.25 billion euros. It is designed to accommodate up to 30 fighter jets and a crew of around 2,000 personnel. The ship will be 310 meters long and 85 meters wide, surpassing the dimensions of the "Charles de Gaulle."
France is the only country in the European Union that possesses nuclear weapons. In terms of aircraft carriers, the United Kingdom, Italy, Russia, and Turkey are also equipped with them in Europe.
