Forest Stripes to be Established in Yerevan Due to Winds, Says Begoyan

The winds in Yerevan predominantly blow from the south-west direction, thus in the southern-western areas, we should consider establishing forest stripes in the future, which may also extend beyond the administrative boundaries of Yerevan. This was stated by Armen Begoyan, the director of the 'Greening and Environmental Protection' municipal enterprise, during a press conference today.

'This issue may also be discussed with the governors or the ministry to include the surrounding areas of Yerevan as green zones. These are the solutions. Of course, alongside vehicle emissions and other various factors, these elements are also necessary to improve the air quality in Yerevan during the winter season, because mainly in vegetative areas, the air quality in hot weather is rated good or even excellent,' he announced.
