EU Council Extends Economic Sanctions Against Russia
The Council of the European Union has announced the extension of economic sanctions against Russia until July 31, 2026. This information is shared in a statement released by the EU Council.
"The EU Council has extended the restrictive measures against Russia for an additional six months, until July 31, 2026, due to the ongoing destabilization of the situation in Ukraine," the statement reads.
In the summer of 2025, the sanctions against Moscow were extended in Brussels until January 31, 2026.
"These economic measures, which were first imposed in 2014, have been significantly expanded since February 2022 in response to Russia's unprovoked, unjustified, and unlawful military aggression against Ukraine," the statement notes.
