Russia Remains Committed to Achieving Peace in Ukraine - Whitcoff
U.S. President's special envoy Steve Whitcoff has described the two-day negotiations with the Russian delegation in Miami as "effective and constructive." American participants in the talks included Jared Kushner, son-in-law of Donald Trump, and administration representative Josh Grünbaum.
Whitcoff noted on the X social media platform: "Russia continues to remain committed to achieving peace in Ukraine. Russia greatly appreciates the efforts and support of the United States in resolving the Ukrainian conflict and restoring global security."
A similar position was expressed by Kirill Dmitriev, the Kremlin's special envoy who participated in the negotiations. However, the parties have not published any details about the content of the negotiations.
Prior to the Miami Russian-American meeting, three days of negotiations were held with representatives from the U.S. and Ukraine. According to Whitcoff, Kyiv remains committed to the goal of reaching peace.
He stated that four documents were discussed with Ukrainian representatives, including a 20-point peace plan, a security guarantees document for Ukraine from the U.S., as well as a further development plan for Ukraine's economy.
Whitcoff indicated that the main focus of the negotiations was on the timing and sequence of the "next steps." He emphasized that "peace should become not only a cessation of hostilities but also a dignified foundation for a sustainable future."
