Abraham, Gevorg, and Vazgen Bishops Leave the Supreme Council of the Mother See: Father Esayi
The Supreme Patriarch is steadfast and resolute in his mission. Nothing has changed in terms of the normal functioning of the Mother See; it continues its mission under the leadership of the Supreme Patriarch.
This was stated by Father Esayi Arthenyan during a conversation with reporters. In response to the question of whether he is aware of the content of the letter that was delivered to the Patriarch by ten bishops yesterday, he replied, "I am not familiar, but I can roughly assume the content of that letter. If there is a response to the letter, we will present it appropriately."
He also spoke about the changes in the composition of the Supreme Spiritual Council, noting that Bishops Abraham, Gevorg, and Vazgen have left the council. "They are being replaced by Bishop Makaar and the Bishop of the Georgian Diocese, Kirakos. Members of the Supreme Spiritual Council are elected or appointed based on geographical position and the status of being a leader of a diocese; thus, Bishop Vazgen was a member of the Supreme Spiritual Council as the leader of the Georgian Diocese, and now Bishop Kirakos has replaced him," he stated.
