Sisak Gabrielyan Denies Interest in Becoming Next President of Armenian Football Federation
Member of the National Assembly from the "Civil Contract" faction, Sisak Gabrielyan, has denied reports that he could become the next president of the Armenian Football Federation (AFF) in an interview with Factor TV.
Against the backdrop of criticisms directed at AFF leadership, names of potential candidates for the new president are being discussed, including that of Sisak Gabrielyan, who is the chairman of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sports of the National Assembly.
"Such discussions have been circulating for at least the last year, but I can say that I see myself in the parliament at this moment and will continue my activities there. Therefore, such information is not true. There has never been such a discussion," remarked Gabrielyan.
When asked if the departure of AFF president Armen Melikbekyan and vice president Armen Nikoghosyan could be a solution in the current situation, Sisak Gabrielyan responded, "At some point, we all will leave. Recently, amid this great discontent, I suggested that they meet and discuss with all interested parties and fans."
