New Agreement Between Great Britain and Norway to Counter Russian Threats
The naval forces of Great Britain and Norway will strengthen their surveillance in the North Atlantic Ocean to ensure the security of vital maritime infrastructure.
According to Interfax, this was announced by the British Ministry of Defence. "The critical infrastructure of Great Britain will be protected from Russian submarines thanks to a first-of-its-kind defensive agreement, under which British and Norwegian naval forces will operate side by side in the North Atlantic," the statement said.
The agreement also envisions the development of supply vessel programs that will serve as floating bases for mine-clearing operations, drones, and undersea warfare systems. The countries intend to lead NATO's efforts to deploy autonomous systems in the Upper North.
Great Britain and Norway also plan to intensify joint military exercises, with the Royal Marines training in Norway to prepare for operations in cold conditions. The British Navy will also utilize Norwegian anti-ship missiles, and both sides will develop the Sting Ray torpedo program.
