The West Now Has Its Last Opportunity: Stub

Finnish President Alexander Stub has stated that the West now has its last opportunity to convince the rest of the world of its ability to engage in dialogue and cooperation before significant changes are expected on the global stage. In an article written for Foreign Affairs, Stub argues that "the next five to ten years could determine the global order for decades to come." He recalls that after World War I, a new order lasted two decades, after World War II, four decades, and "now, 30 years after the end of the Cold War, something new is emerging again."

"This is the last chance for Western countries to convince the rest of the world of their capacity for dialogue rather than monologue, consistency rather than double standards, and cooperation rather than dominance," he writes.
