Foreigners Violating Traffic Rules Will Pay Fines at the Border
The National Assembly discussed the draft law on amendments to the law "On the Features of Administrative Proceedings for Violations of Road Traffic Rules Detected by Recording Devices" during its regular session today. The draft was presented by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Ghazaryan.
According to the Deputy Minister, Article 7.1 of the law outlines the specific procedures for administrative proceedings related to violations committed using vehicles not registered in Armenia. He stated that if a foreigner commits an offense in Armenia using a non-registered vehicle, they will be identified and receive a notification regarding the administrative fine, with the opportunity to pay the fine and settle it at the border.
Currently, there is no such opportunity for foreigners when they commit violations using vehicles registered in Armenia. It has been proposed that if a foreigner violates traffic rules in Armenia while using registered vehicles, those fines should also be notified to them, allowing them to pay and settle it at the border.
If the draft is adopted, it is expected to increase state budget revenues, as the Republic of Armenia will save approximately 90,000,000 drams annually.
