Revamped Runway and Taxiway at Zvartnots Airport Officially Opened

The revamped main runway and taxiway at Zvartnots Airport have officially been put into operation. This was reported by the airport itself.

The section from Karamatuyt 1 (MGHU-MTWY) to Taxiway "Alpha" (GHU-TWY A) has been completely renovated and is now operational. This part of the airport had been out of service since the 1970s. The total area of the renovated section is approximately 53,200 m² (1400 m x 38 m).

The operation of this section and Taxiway "Alpha" will significantly enhance the operational efficiency of the airport. It will allow for a more optimal ground movement of aircraft, increasing the total number of aircraft movements by about 35%, reducing congestion, and increasing the overall number of aircraft/flights served by the airport. It will be utilized for the movement of heavy cargo aircraft and can also serve as an additional emergency runway.

The operation of this section is a key component of the airport's continuous development program aimed at providing passengers with a high-quality and comfortable travel experience.
