Facade Tiles Detach and Fall from Building in Komitas, Damaging Three Vehicles

For the past two days, residents of building No. 38/3 on Komitas Avenue in the Arabkir administrative district of Yerevan have been entering and exiting the building with concern, even receiving guests under the same trepidation.

According to shamshyan.com, at around 20:50 on June 7, facade tiles detached and fell from the 13th and 14th floors of the building. Fortunately, no pedestrians were injured at the time the tiles fell.

Two parked vehicles, a Toyota Camry and a Nissan Rogue, were damaged in the incident.

Rescue teams and the head of the Arabkir administrative district, Aram Azatyan, arrived at the scene. Onlookers noted that the developer, known in Yerevan as “Silot Vardan,” has not fully completed the construction of the building and has seemingly deceived residents by claiming to have built a “5-star building,” which many believe to be a fairy tale.

“If we lived in a civilized country, ‘Silot Vardan’ would be behind bars and would taste prison food. We want to believe that Yerevan’s Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan and the head of the Arabkir district, Aram Azatyan, will not leave the residents helpless and will address many issues of the building, including the removal of the dangerous falling tiles, as there is an ongoing risk of more tiles falling. While no pedestrians have been harmed so far due to fortunate timing, there is no guarantee that this situation won’t lead to loss of life in the future,” said one resident.
