The 'Mother Armenia' faction proposes 100 drams for a single passenger transport
The newspaper 'Zhoghavorud' reports that the 'Mother Armenia' faction of Yerevan City Council proposes to maintain the price of public transport at 100 drams for a single passenger journey. In cases of high usage, they suggest lowering the price even below 100 drams, and making public transport free for pensioners and individuals with disabilities.
The newspaper has previously informed that starting from 2025, the Civil Contract Party (CPP) plans to increase transport fares under the 'Transport Reform' package. Despite public outcry leading to several amendments and delays, new transport tariffs are set to be implemented from January 1, when citizens will have to pay more for transport services.
The 'Mother Armenia' faction has introduced a new proposal for the city council meeting scheduled for September 10, detailing the following fares for transportation:
- For a one-day physical card or electronic ticket via an online application, unlimited travel in all transport means for 400 drams within 24 hours from activation;
- For a seven-day physical card or electronic ticket, unlimited travel in all transport means for 2,000 drams within 30 days from activation;
- For a thirty-day physical card or electronic ticket, unlimited travel in all transport means for 5,500 drams within 90 days from activation;
- For a one-hundred-eighty-day physical card or electronic ticket, unlimited travel in all transport means for 20,000 drams within one year from activation;
- For a three-hundred-sixty-five-day physical card or electronic ticket, unlimited travel in all transport means for 35,000 drams within one year from activation.
