Alen Simonyan on Possible Visit to Azerbaijan and Return of Prisoners

The President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, stated during a parliamentary briefing that there has been no official invitation from the Azerbaijani side, but if it occurs, he will consider visiting. “I say 'consider' not to imply that I will definitely go,” he added in response to a question about whether it is normal to visit Azerbaijan in the presence of prisoners.

Simonyan reminded that Armenia had around 200 prisoners after the war, while the current confirmed number of prisoners is 23. “I am confident that due to ongoing efforts, all prisoners will return, including the former leaders of Nagorno-Karabakh,” he emphasized. The National Assembly President added that his optimism is based on experience: previously, we had ten times more prisoners, but now the number is very low, and the authorities are making efforts for their return.
