Zelensky-Erdoğan Meeting Begins in Ankara: Details
The meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has commenced in Ankara, focusing on American peace initiatives and the ongoing corruption scandal in Kyiv, reports RBC-Ukraine.
Prior to the meeting, Zelensky announced that he intended to hold "intensive negotiations" in Turkey. Several Western media outlets reported that he might also meet with the new U.S. special envoy Stephen Whitkoff, although the latter has not arrived in Turkey. Meanwhile, it is known that on Thursday, Zelensky plans to welcome a U.S. military delegation in Kyiv.
According to Axios, Washington has begun discussions with its European allies and Kyiv on a new conflict resolution plan developed by the U.S. in consultation with Russia.
At the same time, the corruption scandal in Ukraine shows no signs of abating. The parliamentary opposition has demanded the resignation of the government, and several deputies from the ruling ‘Servant of the People’ party have joined this demand, escalating tensions within the government.
