Foreign Language Films to Be Screened with Armenian Subtitles in All Cinemas of Armenia
According to the Law on Cinematography of the Republic of Armenia, foreign language films will be shown on the big screen in all cinemas in Armenia with Armenian subtitles. This initiative aims to engage a broader audience and enhance accessibility.
The regulation applies not only to theatrical screenings but also to films distributed via television, online platforms, and physical media.
The initiative is being implemented through the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia and the Armenia Cinema Foundation, in cooperation with foreign distribution companies.
As per the law, the distribution of foreign language films is now based on a screening license, one of the mandatory conditions of which requires that films feature visible and clear Armenian subtitles.
In the next phase, plans are being made for the dubbing of foreign language films into Armenian.
The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports and the Armenia Cinema Foundation continue to work diligently toward the effective implementation of state policy in the film sector and the improvement of the film viewing environment, ensuring the fulfillment of provisions stipulated by the Law on Cinematography.
