BBC to Apologize to Donald Trump for Distorting His Speech
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is preparing to apologize to US President Donald Trump for distorting his speech. According to the Telegraph, citing sources, "BBC lawyers are already working on an official response to Trump."
BBC Director-General Tim Davie and Executive Director Deborah Turness announced their resignation on November 9 amid a scandal surrounding the BBC's documentary film "Panorama 2024." The criticisms were related to the distorted portrayal of Trump's January 2021 speech, which created the impression that he was calling for violent actions and encouraging the Capitol riots.
According to the Telegraph, the montage presented in the film altered the content of the speech, portraying Trump's words with a sharply different subtext. Trump referred to BBC journalists as "corrupt" and described the corporation's leadership as "dishonest." He later announced his intention to sue the BBC for allegedly willfully distorting his speech.
