The Threat's 'Arrow' Points Not to Azerbaijan, But to Russia: Surenyan

Political analyst Suren Surenyants wrote on his Facebook page: "The head of external intelligence, Kristine Grigoryan, states: ‘At this moment, we rightly assess that the military threats are very low... But there are threats to our democracy.’ This phrasing suggests that the ‘arrow’ of the threat is directed not at Azerbaijan, but at Russia. Meanwhile, an imitation of peace is being created, which has no relation to reality. This fits into the anti-Russian propaganda encouraged by the current authorities, and it is evident that the Armenian authorities are inclined to accept the terms of Azerbaijani vassalage.

However, the reality is different: Azerbaijan, by not signing the peace agreement, keeps the door to war open. Armenia continues to remain under blockade, and part of our country is still occupied. The main threat to our democracy comes from within, from the authoritarian tendencies of Pashinyan’s government. Therefore, it is dangerous to present a false ‘illusion of security’ to the public when the main threats facing Armenia are real, tangible, and demand responsible politics."
