Peskov on Communication Between Ushakov and the British Side
The Press Secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, confirmed that in early 2025, a telephone conversation took place between Yuri Ushakov, the aide to the Russian President, and Jonathan Powell, the national security adviser to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. However, according to Peskov, the dialogue did not continue.
Peskov stated that Moscow has noted London’s unconstructive stance, which has resulted in the lack of further communication. “The point is that during this contact, our interlocutor expressed a desire to tell about the Europeans' position, but there was a lack of willingness to hear our viewpoint. Of course, when there is no opportunity for the exchange of mutual opinions, dialogue cannot develop,” Peskov emphasized.
