Illegal Extraction of 1500 Cubic Meters of Marble in Kotayk Results in 24 Million Dram Sale
In the Kotayk region, company officials have continued marble extraction despite the expiration of their permit. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, representatives of a limited liability company violated the rules for the preservation and use of subsoil resources, continuing mining operations in the "Sulijor" area of the administrative territory of the village of Arzakan in Kotayk Province with an expired permit.
Preliminary data suggest that approximately 1500 cubic meters of marble have been illegally extracted, which was then transferred to a sorting point owned by the same company and sold for around 24 million drams. As a result, substantial damage has been inflicted on the interests of the state and the community.
On November 4, four individuals were arrested at the extraction site on suspicion of engaging in illegal entrepreneurial activities, and they have been presented to the Kotayk regional investigative department. A criminal case has been initiated, and the circumstances of the incident are being clarified.
