A Lynx Found in Shirak Province Has Died

On November 9, the Yerevan Zoo received a report that a lynx cub had been found in the village of Baghravan in Shirak Province and caught by local residents. The inspection body had transported the cub to the Yerevan Zoo with the necessary documentation.

"The animal arrived at the zoo late in the evening, around 10:30 PM. Specialists immediately noted its extremely critical condition: the animal was emaciated, dehydrated, and in severe stress. An observational assessment indicated that it was approximately 5-6 months old, which at that age, cannot hunt independently or survive without maternal care. The zoo immediately provided a calm environment, warmth, water, and food; however, intense medical intervention was risky, as it could lead to rapid death. Unfortunately, the animal succumbed about an hour after arrival," the Yerevan Zoo reported.

A post-mortem examination revealed that the cause of death was acute renal failure, with signs of cardiac failure recorded due to emaciation and severe stress.
