New Details on the Murder of Blogger Shmavon Atoyan

The young man accused of the murder of blogger Shmavon Atoyan does not admit to the charge of intentional murder, according to his lawyer, Hayk Alumyana.

According to the lawyer, on the day of the incident, about five individuals attacked his client, including Atoyan himself. “Moreover, the attackers had their faces covered in various ways, they were not wearing masks, but hats and were individuals with hoods. The footage shows that these people are trying to keep their faces covered. One of them, the victim, was also like that. We do not know these individuals yet, and I do not know if the prosecuting body has identified them or not,” Alumyana noted.

He stated that the defendant fired at the ground for self-defense and not towards anyone. The lawyer emphasized that the case has no political context. “I do not know why they are trying to politicize the case; my client has no connection to politics,” Alumyana said.
