What Assets Does the Newly Appointed Head of Yerevan-Center Prison Have

The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports: Recently, it was revealed that Justice Colonel Robert Tamaryan has been appointed as the head of the Yerevan-Center correctional facility.

Tamaryan has worked in the justice sector for 12 years, having served in 2013 as the first category specialist in the special division of the Ministry of Justice's correctional department. And now, from a first-category specialist, he has become the head of the Yerevan-Center Prison after 12 years.

An interesting fact is that the imprisoned Bagrat Srabzan, Mikayel Srabzan, and benefactor businessman Samvel Karapetyan are held in this very facility.

So, what assets does Robert Tamaryan have? The head of the correctional facility is his second position this year; prior to this, Tamaryan was appointed head of the "Hospital for Convicts" correctional facility by order dated May 8, 2025, and it was during this tenure that he submitted his declaration.

According to his 2024 declaration of real estate, income, interests, and expenses, Tamaryan owns three properties, all of which are apartments in Yerevan, two of which he inherited.

In 2020, Tamaryan acquired a MITSUBISHI brand vehicle. The balances in the bank accounts of the head of the prison amounted to 222,000 AMD, with cash funds totaling 10 million AMD and 33,000 USD.

His reported income for the fiscal year was 47,194,000 AMD, of which 6,776,000 AMD was remuneration for his service in the correctional sector, 1,495,000 AMD was a return of income tax, and almost 40 million AMD were loans obtained from “Hayekonombank.”

As of December 31 of the reporting year, the balance of the principal amounts for the loans and borrowed funds received by Robert Tamaryan was 29,266,000 AMD. From this section, it is noted that the remaining balance of the mortgage principal for one of the apartments amounted to 63,952 USD.
