Top Educators to be Awarded

Top Educators to be Awarded

The Armenian government has decided to redistribute the budget during today’s session to award the best educators of general education institutions in honor of Teacher's Day. It is planned to award 22 winning participants, each receiving 500,000 AMD (including taxes and fees established by Armenian legislation).

It should be noted that in 2020, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports awarded 58 educators with portable computers as part of the “Best of the Year” competition. The ministry found it appropriate to provide monetary awards to the winners of the 2021 “Best of the Year” competition. The substitution of portable computer awards with monetary prizes is aimed at allowing educators to have greater discretion in managing their rewards based on their needs and the outcomes of their work.

This decision is aligned with the Armenian government’s 2021-2026 program, specifically focused on promoting self-education and development of educators, professional advancement, sharing successful experiences in confronting contemporary educational challenges, and contributing to the creation of healthy competition among educators through the competition while recognizing their efforts at work.

It is also reminded that the Armenian government’s 2021-2026 program stipulates the introduction of differentiated professional development policies for teachers according to the needs of various teacher groups, linking teacher job advancement, continuous professional development, and compensation mechanisms, ensuring that all teachers have the opportunity for at least a 30-50 percent salary increase, and completely revising the pedagogical education system to make the teaching profession appealing, reputable, and relevant among the youth.
